Facts On Geothermal HVAC Systems

Geothermal HVAC systems otherwise called ground source heat pumps, is one of the most energy efficient systems obtainable. Earth is the heat source used during winter and heat sink summer time. It takes advantage of the compromising temperature of the ground to increase the efficiency and at the same time aims to reduce the energy cost of heating and cooling systems.

A geosolar system is a combination of solar heating and ground heat sources (geothermal heat pumps). Energy savings are estimated at 25 to 70%, depending on the situation are derived using geothermal HVAC systems. Two efficiency ratings are used to measure units of cooling and heating efficiency.

The energy efficiency rating or EER is used to calculate cooling efficiency rating. The heating efficiency uses coefficient of performance or COP to calculate the heating effect ratings. Geothermal pumps are becoming trendier and most used by residential homeowners for heating and cooling applications.

Taking advantage of the geothermal technology, users can take advantage of huge savings on electric bills by using ground source or the geothermal heat pumps. The technology entails no unpleasant noise outdoor unit, tremendous cost savings than other sources of heating and more reasonable operational cost.

Geothermal Systems comes in Different Types

You will discover some basic sorts of geothermal (heat pump) ground never-ending loop systems. To mention the three ground loop systems; horizontally, straight, in addition to pond/lake are usually shut down never-ending loop systems.

There is an additional option which is called the open-loop alternative. Which often one of those is the most suitable depending on the climate, soil problems, readily available land, in addition to local setting up expenses. This loop system is basically the most affordable and cost effective for household installation. In a closed loop system, interaction of water and ground is eliminated; merely heat traversing along the pipe.

What are the Benefits in Using Geothermal Heat Pumps

Green solutions has proven to be the most effective means to save money from energy cost and at the same time, environmental friendly solutions to give benefit to users. Using geothermal systems can give you the benefits since this can be use almost everywhere in the world:

• most effective way to achieve energy and cost effective; save fossil fuel resources

• gives unpolluted heating and cooling, secretion from blazing fuel.

• the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency graded geothermal heat pumps among the most effective heating and cooling technologies there is today.

• Geothermal heat pumps offers guaranteed elevated ease to your home.

These types of devices usually do not require any additional energy origin to help warm your house and to achieve hot water. It indicates no probable Co2 Monoxide disbursement, no allergy symptoms by combustibles without external oxygen required for combustion.

Geothermal heat system disperses air evenly in your home, so heat range variance is lesser than that of a conventional product. When compared with other air-source warmers, geothermal systems do not lose their capability to warm as the outdoor heat range declines. This gives you maximum comfort and totally peace of mind. Using Rocks As CO2 Sponges

Researchers studying peridotite rock in the Middle Eastern country of Oman say the material could be an amazing absorber of carbon dioxide.

Peridotite is found in abundance in the Earth's mantle, about 12 miles down and under the Earth's crust. Large chunks of the rock make their way to the surface as the crust moves and shifts. While the scientists making the discovery studied a large field of peridotite in Oman, the material can be found in various places around the globe, including in the U.S.

The study, which will be published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, shows that peridotite reacts with CO2 at surprisingly high rates. The reaction forms a solid carbonate like limestone or marble. Researchers involved in the study feel that the process can be sped up to even higher rates with drilling and injection of CO2 into the rock.

"This method would afford a low-cost, safe and permanent method to capture and store atmospheric CO2," said geologist Peter Kelemen, lead author of the study. Keleman estimates that the Omani peridotite field, which is about the size of Massachusetts, is naturally absorbing between 10,000 and 100,000 tons of CO2 every year.

Although scientists have long known that peridotite will react with CO2, plans to transport it to power plants where it could be exposed to smokestack gasses proved unwieldy or too expensive. But the extremely high reaction rates occurring naturally means that CO2 could instead be shipped to peridotite sites to be absorbed, and at a much lower cost.

By simply boring into the surface of exposed peridotite and pumping in heated water that is saturated with pressurized CO2, researchers are confident the reaction process can be increased 100,000 times or more. Through this process, scientists predict that the Omani peridotite field alone can absorb about 4 billion tons of CO2 annually, which equates to about 13 percent of the total amount humans send into the atmosphere.

One possible drawback - the cracking and expansion of peridotite deep under the Earth's surface from pressurized CO2 and from the formation of new carbonates could result in micro-earthquakes. But Kelemen said they would be nearly imperceptible.

Passive Solar Home Plans - Slash Your Utility Bill and Help Save the Environment

With electricity and utility bills soaring, and global warming on everybody's conscience, we need to find ways to reduce our power consumption. Passive solar home plans will enable you to build and install your own safe, reliable and fully functional homemade solar panel system that will help you reduce your power bill by a substantial amount. Don't believe what the news says about solar being an ineffective and inefficient source of energy - almost all of our energy actually comes from the sun.

That's right, because oil and coal are carbon energy stored in liquid or solid forms this means that the decomposed living matter that these two vital fuels are made up of originally came from the sun. The solar energy trapped inside these fuels is released when they are burned - see; we already use a form of solar power everyday.

However, oil and coal are running out rapidly due to an exponential increase in demand, but a relatively small increase in supply. Within the next 5 years we will have reached a situation where oil production capacity has peaked and started to decline. $140 a barrel oil will seem like a deal, rising oil prices will threaten our Western way of life.

However, there is some good news for you. With passive solar home plans you will be able to install a system powerful enough to provide almost all of the energy needs in your house. Taking simple steps such as using energy efficient light bulbs and turning off electrical devices that are not being used can make up the rest of the power savings. Completely eliminating your utility bill is a distinct possibility. I have done it using a homemade solar panel system, and I don't even live in a particularly sunny area!

With the right set of passive solar home plans, constructing and installing a safe, reliable and efficient system yourself is not only easy, but inexpensive as well. Whilst a system installed by a solar panel technician will set you back from between $3000-$9000, you can perform just as good of a job for around $250. This is not some form of practical joke- this is real science being applied to help your bank account and the environment. Solar home plans are the real deal, and the passive power system means that you can sell excess power back to your utility company to actually earn yourself money. All the components required can be purchased from hardware stores or online, and are not difficult to put together. Solar power really is a viable option for slashing your demand for fossil fuel based energy, helping the environment and making the world a better place to live in.

Eco Technology - Eco Friendly Products Using Clean Energy to Power the Green Evolution

Eco technology can realize the goals of the revolution to promote a green earth. The Go Green revolution tried to inspire people to save the earth, the trees, and life-sustaining ecologies. Unfortunately, modern societies are so far removed from the earth, the trees and the environment that now the term "green" conjures only faint images of people who would abandon technology and society to live caveman-like in the wild, or recyclers vainly trying to make people fall in love with old used stuff.

Go Green fails to change lifestyles because our lifestyles are so technologically engrossed that Cell Phones and iPods and HD TVs get more reaction than anything else... except for LOWER COST, CONVENIENCE, SAVE MONEY. Big energy count on these old refrains to keep everyone rooted in modern world realities whenever "Green" threatens their little kingdoms.

The time has come for Go Green to evolve...

Enter Eco technology... the first evolutionary step to ensure that everyone will have "Gone Green" without much effort.

Eco technology (aka eco powered tech) describes the use of high energy efficiency and clean energy to power technology that promotes eco friendly lifestyles. Eco powered tech will give consumers what they want; LOWER COST, CONVENIENCE, SAVE MONEY and deliver what people everywhere need; LESS WASTE, LESS POLLUTION, GREEN ENVIRONMENT.

Here's how eco technology delivers for both sides:

LOWER COST, LESS WASTE - Unlike 5-10, years ago energy efficient devices are more prevalent and the number and availability of eco friendly alternative energy is rising. Increased prevalence will lower initial cost for consumers. Greater energy efficiency means not only less energy use but also less waste of energy than ever before. Energy efficiency carries a further side benefit of increased longevity which translates into less material waste... another boon for the environment.

CONVENIENCE, LESS POLLUTION - energy efficient technologies and cleaner energy are now more convenient to access and use. Energy efficiency is built into many commonly used devices and since it's actually cheaper to make them, the increasing trend for more energy efficient devices will result in even greater convenience for the consumer. Most devices don't produce pollution directly; instead they use conventional energy that was co-generated with millions of tons of pollution yearly. Eco technology that use and waste less energy actually cause less pollution to be created even when they use conventional energy sources.

SAVE MONEY, SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT - eco powered tech leaps ahead by promoting the use of clean energy, such as solar to satisfy the energy needs of already energy efficient devices, such as LED lights and miniaturized gadgets, ...and the effects are synergistic (solar powered LED lights can last more than 20 times longer than battery powered incandescent lights of the same brightness). Clean energy such as solar and wind can be generated at or near the consumer's location and cost nothing after installation (some minor maintenance cost). Being close to the consumer, their is little energy waste due to transmission lines so consumers save money when they use and waste less clean energy and save the environment by co-generating zero pollution.

These features and benefits can be simplified by the following equations:

consumer equation for eco powered tech;

((more energy efficient devices x lower energy use per device x near zero energy cost for clean energy) + lower cost) x longer times between replacements = huge money savings + huge convenience.

environmental equation for eco powered tech;

(Lower energy use + lower energy waste) x more energy efficient devices x fewer device replacements per time unit x near 0 pollution for clean energy = huge pollution reduction + huge reduction in the rape of natural resources + huge preservation of ecological beauty and wildlife habitat.

Dreaming of the green old days is just not working and we still have dire need for a green earth. Eco movements everywhere must change people's lifestyles by wholeheartedly endorsing affordable eco technology because it will ensure a green future for this planet.

Learn more about using eco technology to begin the green evolution, even if you're not ready to generate your own clean power. These eco powered tech tips will help you to lower cost of energy as you begin your green evolution.

Dubai Tower to be Solar-Powered

Forget the kilometer-high Burj Dubai under construction in the Persian Gulf's fast-growing city-state. A British consortium is building something even wilder, which surely qualifies as the world's largest bona-fide gadget: The Time Residences tower, a solar powered skyscraper that will use the electricity thus generated to rotate through 360 degrees.

"We didn't want to build just another building or tower, we wanted to create something unique - a precious place to live - a genuine contender to be one of the great buildings in the world," said Tav Singh, director of Dubai Property Ring, the Dubai arm of UK-based property investors UK Property Group.
The completed tower will offer 200 expensive apartments for people who want to spend lots of money to screw up their circadian rhythym. Singh said they want to build many more such towers, with one for every time zone.

I was wondering why they don't use the solar power to reduce the tower's energy usage, rather than just rotate it. Then I read:
"Cooper said state of the art bearing systems at several points in the tower will allow a power plant to rotate the base of the tower at 5mm per second using only 21 electic kettles' worth of solar power."

Response to American Thinker

I read an article by American Thinker entitled "Okay, so boycott Israel". Here it is:

Hey you, members of the Presbyterian and Episcopalian church denominations boycotting or thinking of boycotting Israel! And you university types. And especially all you anti-Israel lefties. All of you who want to boycott Israel.

Well, go ahead and do it. Or try. Of course your standard of living and your health will suffer but that's not important in the great scheme of punishing Israel. Israel and its people have contributed greatly to the world; the boycotter's are just takers. So boycott all you want--you won't be missed.

Ethel C. Fenig 12 13 04

I don't deny that Israel has made "some" contributions to the world, but I don't think we can just hand them the computer and cellular phone trophies in there entirety. I mean come on! That's taking it a little far don't you think?

I'm not Presbyterian or Episcopalian and I have no intentions of boycotting Israel, but I also recognize that as far as Middle East Peace goes, Israel is no angel. Neither is Palestine. However, from what I know about the issue it seems to me it's almost like a "big brother little brother" kind of situation. The big brother holds all of the power and has the ability to push the little brother just enough to make him do something stupid. I'm not saying Palestine is innocent, but Israel holds the power, the military, and the ability to make Palestinian life miserable.

Theres a website that gives Palestinians a voice. A voice that they never receive in the American media. It's the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights. Check it out.

A Heart-Healthy MP3 Player

It's rare to see anyone at the gym these days without an MP3 player, so it would seem obvious to develop a model with integrated fitness features. Oregon Scientific has done that with the MP121 MP3 player. In addition to its MP3 capability, FM tuner and equalizer, it boasts a pedometer with a stop watch, alarm, pace counter and calculators for distance, calories and BMI. It's also waterproof and shockproof to withstand those intense, sweat-drenching workouts. The MP3 player includes 1GB of storage, equalizer, ID3 tag support, USB 2.0, and a 3-color backlight display (blue, orange, purple).
